Emeli Sandé has returned to the top of the UK albums chart.

The singer’s album ‘Our Version Of Events’ was named the best selling record in the UK of 2012, and it seems she has started the new year with a bang too.

It is the album’s eighth week at the top of the chart, beating off competition from last week’s No.1, Calvin Harris‘ ’18 Months’.

Taking the bronze medal this week is Jake Bugg’s self-titled debut, whilst Rihanna‘s ‘Unapologetic’ is in at No.4.

Other notable entries in the top ten include the Les Misérables soundtrack at No.5, with Ed Sheeran‘s ‘+’ following at No.6.

The Lumineers’ ‘The Lumineers’ meanwhile is in at No.10.

Last night was Emeli’s fist stop on her new North American tour. Emeli visited ‘The Variety Playhouse’ in Atlanta, Georgia.

From what we can tell the crowd was very friendly with her and knew a lot of her songs already. For instance, when Emeli performs ‘My Kind of Love’ you can really hear the audience sing it back to her!

*Note Emeli performed more than the 3 songs listed but these are the only songs we can find videos to. When more videos are uploaded we will update this post.

Sande is the first solo artist to notch up an unbroken run of 47 weeks inside the Official Albums Chart Top 10 with a debut album from release, and only the second act in history to achieve such a feat behind The Beatles, who scored 62 consecutive weeks in the Top 10 with their 1963 debut Please Please Me.
