Hello everyone, I’m quite excited to actually announce that Emeli Daily now has a new layout. This layout was inspired by Rudimental’s song called ‘Free’ featuring our Emeli Sande. Take a listen if you haven’t yet! I’ve tried something new each time I make a website layout but this is probably my most proudest layout I’ve ever made. Thank you Sarah for always keeping the site updated throughout the last 2 years of it running. There’s still a lot that this site has to offer, so stay tune and make sure to follow us on Twitter and ‘Like’ us on Facebook. Oh and make sure to follow us on Instagram as well because we will be updating that often. Thank you for visiting and have a nice day/night.

On May 23rd Emeli Sande attended the Ivor Novello Awards at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. Emeli’s song ‘Clown’ was nominated for an award. Check out thumbnails of Emeli’s arrival below and visit the gallery here to see the full size images.

This week Radio Times chose to publish their recent interview they had with Emeli. Emeli discusses many things in the interview and we came across something that caught our eye, Emeli Sande is working on Rihanna’s soon-to-be title new album. The interview seems to have been done a little over a month ago.

Read the excerpt from Emeli’s interview with Radio Times:

When we speak, Sandé is just back from a “writing camp” in Paris for Rihanna’s next album. The following week, she is bound for New York, to write again with Alicia Keys. And immediately after that she’s visiting Zambia, under the auspices of Oxfam, with her family.

We are very excited that Emeli is writing material for rihanna’s new album, and hopefully a lot of it gets accepted for the project. We love ‘Half of Me’ which Emeli wrote for Rihanna’s last album ‘Unapologetic’.

EMOTIONAL Emeli Sande has fulfilled an ambition by walking in the footsteps of her hero – artist Frida Kahlo.

The Read All About It star loves Frida so much that she has a tattoo of her on her right arm.

She flew to Mexico City as part of an ITV documentary to visit her home, meet those who knew her and even try on some of her clothes.

The Scots singer-songwriter said: “She was a woman who had a masculinity to her. It was very strong, which I loved.”

Former medical student Emeli revealed that getting the tattoo played a key role in deciding to pursue her musical ambitions.

She said: “When I moved to London from Glasgow, it was my first real liberation, a feeling of, ‘OK, I’m not a doctor any more.’

“So my Frida tattoo was a real statement that I was making the commitment to being an artist.

“Because you can’t have a tattoo like this if you’re a doctor – you have to wear short sleeves.”

Frida, who died in 1954 aged 47, was half-Mexican, half-German, and felt European and Latin American.

It’s something Emeli, who was born to an English mother and Zambian father, and grew up in Alford, Aberdeenshire, identifies with.

She said: “I lacked identity. I felt like I’m the weirdo everyone’s staring at.”

●Under My Skin: Emeli Sandé In Search of Frida Kahlo airs on ITV at 10pm on Sunday. Read the interview in the Radio Times.

Katy Perry recently sat down for an interview with Scotland’s Daily Record, and had some great things to say about meeting Emeli Sande. Read the article below to see which one of Emeli’s songs is Katy’s favorite, and their time shared in studio.

And, excitingly for Katy, it brought the chance to work with Scotland’s own female superstar Emeli Sande on a number called It Takes Two, which offers a surprising perspective on her marriage’s end.

aty explained: “I was working with a producer group called Stargate, who I worked with on the last record, who I wrote Firework with. We were talking about different artists and who we were loving right then and there.

“They were saying they were in the studio with me and with Emeli that week, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, I was just listening to her record’.

“My favourite song is Clown, I’m obsessed with that song, I think she is an incredible songwriter and such a gem.

“They were like, ‘We should just call her up and see if she wants to write’, and I was like ‘Yeah, dahhh’.

“I had this initial idea of writing a song about accepting your responsibility in a relationship that has gone south.

“It’s a different type of song to write, as when you write about relationships you’re either deeply in love or in the ‘f**k you’ stage or ‘I’m doing great without you’ stage. Rarely do you get a song that has a psychological depth about admitting your part.

“So Emeli came in and she totally understood the idea for the song.

“We have the same kind of perspective and I admire her style of writing.

“She was great, a great co-writer. I am playing It Takes Two on the tour, which is very exciting, as I get to play a lot of new songs, although I do play all the old ones too.”
