Emeli Sandé performed at a secret location on the River Thames tonight (September 8), helping to unveil the Jaguar XE.

The singer played a 45-minute set, including a song titled ‘Feels Like’ which she created especially for the launch of the new vehicle. A star-studded audience turned out for the event.

‘Feels Like’ was constructed by Sandé and the public as part of the FEEL XE campaign. The singer and Jaguar asked fans: “What makes you feel exhilarated?”

Using #FEELXE, the public shared words, pictures, sounds and films through Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

She became the talk of the country when she performed during the 2012 Olympics.

But despite it being what she describes as an ‘exhilarating’ experience Emeli Sande has revealed she was racked with nerves.

When asked whether anything would top the experience for her, she exclusively told MailOnline: ‘ I hope nothing will top it nerves wise, it was the most nerve wrecking experience but the exhilaration after the performance made it all worth it.’

In a behind-the-scenes video, the 27-year-old, continued: ‘When you really push yourself and put yourself in such a high-pressure situation, it’s really great when it all goes well. I’m not sure anything will top the enormity but I do hope there comes a point when I test myself to those lengths again.’

She also told MailOnline how she likes to treat herself, sharing: ‘I usually indulge myself by buying musical instruments – ones that I sometimes don’t continue playing, such as the cello – I wish I had improved my playing before buying a quality cello.

‘But there are others that I love and cherish. I bought a baby grand piano, which cost a fortune, but it is a lifelong investment.’

It’s not all music thought and Emeli revealed how she likes to unwind: ‘There’s loads of ways that I relax … I love writing a new song and seeing something come from nowhere but equally I love going out with friends and listening to something that someone else has written.

‘I’ve also recently discovered the release that getting in the car, putting the roof down and going for a drive can provide – it really lets you clear your head. I grew up in nature so being in the open air surrounded by beautiful scenery feels like home. ‘

When quizzed about if she things she has found a happy medium between work and play, she said:

‘Somewhere in the middle. I think keeping a balance means you have to be flexible. Sometimes work takes priority sometimes life takes priority – it changes and I can accept that. And luckily I have amazing family and friends who accept that too.

‘Music has always been a part of my life, whether I was in showbiz or not, it’s a part of me.’

Talking about the past year, she said:  ‘This year has brought some big changes for me – veganism being one of them. I don’t eat any animal product. I feel lighter, I have more energy and most importantly I am more conscious of what I put into my body.

‘As long as you respect your body and give it what it needs as opposed to what you want – you’re winning. There are great vegan websites/blogs which give you loads of meal ideas and nutrition advice.

And she is very clearly about people being themselves: ‘It is important to me that young people, especially young females, know that what the media presents is only one way to look. It is not the way to look. I think it’s about setting your own standards for yourself and holding firm to them. Being creative I see fashion as a way to express who I am – I define who I am, nobody else. ‘

Emeli will be performing her FEEL XE track during a secret audio-visual gig at a central London location on 08 September as part of a series of stunts and events across the city to mark the global reveal of the Jaguar XE.

Jaguar has signed up actor Idris Elba, designer Stella McCartney and singer-songwriter Emeli Sandé to promote the launch of its XE sports saloon, with the singer inviting consumers to shape her new track via social media ahead of an audio-visual performance by the Thames.
Using the hashtag #FeelXE, consumers are invited to tell Jaguar and Sandé what exhilarates them, using words, pictures, sounds and films via Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram, as well as Sandé’s own Twitter and Facebook pages.

Sandé will then write a Feel XE song that will be performed in an audio-visual extravaganza on 8 September at a secret location by the banks of the Thames, with the event building to a climax featuring a reveal of the car.

Other events will also take place across London, all designed to encapsulate the mid-sized sports saloon’s “Exhilaration” brand identity.

Elba will tap into his love of cars and, with his production company Green Door Pictures, will create a “Feel XE project”; and designer McCartney is also devising her own project.

Sandé said: “I’m excited about working with Jaguar on the Feel XE campaign and with an incredible British brand.

“The new XE is innovative in its design and I can’t wait to start collaborating with the world, looking at what defines ‘Exhilaration’ for them, and premiering the track in London at what is going to be an incredible event.”

Elba said: “I have a passionate, personal connection to cars, and when I think of ‘Exhilaration’ I am immediately drawn towards the defining points in my life and the role that cars have played in these moments.”

McCartney said: “I’m passionate about British design and innovation. I’m proud to be involved in the Jaguar Feel XE campaign and look forward to this exciting partnership.”

In the build up to the event in September, Jaguar’s Facebook page will carry behind-the-scenes footage and interviews.

A few days ago an announcement was made that Mary J. Blige would recruit some of the UK’s most talented artists and as we were reading the announcement Emeli immediately popped into our head.

Today Emeli announced, via Instagram, that she and Mary are in fact in the studio today along with Naughty Boy and producer Rodney Jerkins aka Darkchild! No word on whether the material they’re working on is for Emeli or Mary’s album, we’re just excited that they’re working together and CANNOT wait to see what they come up with!

Passenger recently had time for an interview with Absolute Radio and explained that he wants to collaborate with Emeli. Read what he said below:

Passenger joined Absolute Radio backstage at The Isle of Wight Festival and revealed that after meeting Emeli Sande a few weeks ago, a collaboration could very well be on the cards. He said ‘I think Emeli Sande is an amazing artist. Her voice is beautiful and I’d love to write with her. We’ve spoken about it so who knows. Would be so cool’

Even if we don’t get a duet I would love to hear the songs these two could write together!
